To gain a further understanding of Alberta, students learned about the province's six natural regions. They researched what the landforms, vegetation, wildlife, and climate in Alberta were like. Students then made presentations about the various regions and brought them further to life by next making a topographical map of Alberta. The presentations and maps were both informative and fun, bringing our class a little closer to a province so far away.

On the morning of Halloween, students showed off their costumes and had fun with House Activities. We played charades, hot potato, and wrapped up a few classmates as mummies. A huge thanks to our leadership class who organized such a fun day for the Grade 4s! Just before Halloween, students made slot sculptures of ghosts, ghouls, and more. The Grade 4s drew cute and spooky creatures on cardboard, before colouring and cutting them out. They then put them together, using slots cut into the cardboard. They turned out great, making a 3D sculpture out of 2D pieces!
To better understand where our garbage goes and what happens to it, students built models of landfills. Their goal was to hold as much garbage as possible while causing no additional pollution. We tested the landfills with both "wind and rain storms". It was fun to see how all the groups performed, while reflecting on both the bad and good of landfills. |
