As our first writing project, 4KE reviewed how to make interesting sentences following the Who, What, When, Where, Why strategy. Students first practiced the strategy by writing sentences on paper and their blog, before combining it with their skills on Google Drawing. They made creative sentence posters, adding character through different colours and font formatting. Please check out the finished results below!

To begin the year in math, we have started with the unit Whole Numbers. Students are looking at numbers up to 10 000. So far we have played games and done exercises, learning how to recognize numbers by place value, compare them (least vs. greatest), and sort them into Venn diagrams.
A tool that students will use throughout the year is called Flipgrid. Using this tool, 4KE practiced recording themselves answering a question. It was a lot of fun as students learned how to best record themselves and how to make fun thumbnails for their videos.
During the first week of school, the Grade 4s began establishing many routines such as making posters for the Classroom Rules we thought were most important. We also learned how to use our laptops, from typing to researching reliable websites. Of course, we began learning and exploring our new units of study as well, sharing ideas through drawings and writing on whiteboards. It was a busy week but the class adjusted well. We're off to a great start this school year!
