For the past week, students have been further exploring simple machines by building and working with dragsters and racers. Students learned about rollers, and wheels and axles, and how they can be used. Students tested everything from speed to distance to motion changes with their vehicles, leading to both interesting and sometimes disastrous results. It was a fun week exploring these machines!

As we move onto our next Social Studies unit, The Stories, Histories, and Peoples of Alberta, students learned about the First Nations people. They learned how the First Nations people lived in the past, including their values regarding storytelling and use of the buffalo. Students put this knowledge together into a diorama of a teepee, creating an outer design based on First Nation stories and an interior of items used in the past. The classroom had a variety of designs to share and the Grade 4s did a wonderful job!
