In Social Studies, students learned about how Alberta and Western Canada attracted people from different countries to settle there. We learned about all the benefits Alberta had to offer, such as cheap land. Students then worked on making their own advertisement posters, some even in different languages. They researched reasons to come to Alberta and worked on Google Drawing to design different advertisements. The posters turned out quite creative and interesting!

While we were learning about Measurement, students worked on an activity to help them visualize just how big a square meter is. They were tasked in groups to make a square meter out of paper. Then then used this giant square to measure the area of large places in the school. It was quite the upgrade from measuring objects in centimeters!
Over the past 2 months, 4KE had been growing their own bean plants. Students made journals, documenting the plants' growth through photographs and drawings. Some plants died quickly and others grew long enough to even make a bean! It was an exciting but scary process, hoping that every plant would survive. Grade 4s were able to learn a lot about plants through this experience! During April, parents came to the Grade 4 classroom for the school's Art Showcase. Parents were able to experience what an art class in Grade 4 was like, with their children guiding the way. We worked on making Google Drawings, first practicing before making a monster. The results were great! As well, everyone had a chance to look at a small gallery with artworks from every grade. It was a great day and I thank parents for attending and making the event even more fun for the class!
As we continued learning about Plants, students completed sorting activities for the Plant Growth Cycle. Students also observed different plant parts and their function in person, including roots, stems, and leaves. Here are photos from a few of those activities!
