Students have spent just over the last month working on their understanding of fractions and decimals. We worked our way up from interpreting simple drawings of fractions to working with decimals to the hundredths. Below is a look at some of the games students played and teacher tasks given to them.

To start our new Science Unit, students were prompted on Padlet to write a post in response to a photo of a developing plant. With this prompt, students were soon able to discover that our new unit would be about Plant Growth and Changes. Through this unit, students will learn about different plant parts, how a plant grows, and how to take care of one according to its needs.
As one of the first plant parts we learned about, students looked at celery. We put celery in coloured water and then dissected them, observing that tubes inside the celery had changed colour. This helped us learn about one of the function of stems, to transport water to different parts of a plant! Students enjoyed cutting up the plants and taking a deeper look inside. |
