Grade 4s worked on making interesting sentences by stretching them according to the 5 Ws. They then used their sentences to make posters, thinking about changing fonts and colours on Google Drawing. In the end, we had a range of fun and diverse sentences.

As the first art project, 4KE worked on making realistic portraits. We did this by learning where to draw different features according to given guidelines. Students were then equipped with the skills to draw faces to proportion. Next, we took inspiration from Andy Warhol and his colour palettes, using unconventional colours to paint the face, including light and shadow. What resulted were a range of interesting and bright portraits!
Throughout September, Grade 4 has been learning about numbers up to 10000. We did this by looking at place value, and then estimating, adding, and subtraction. It was an extension of skills that many of the Grade 4s already had!
In a short lesson, students compiled lists of waste they had made in their homes. They then sorted these types of waste into what they were made of. We ended up learning that the most types of waste we make in the classroom are food, paper, and plastic. In the future, we'll see what we can do to change those habits and decrease the amount of waste we make!
During Mental Health Awareness Week, the Grade 4s went through several exercises from learning techniques to calm themselves from stress and anxiety, to making positive affirmation fortune tellers. They learned how to express their emotions and maintain a positive outlook by appreciating their already full lives. It was a fulfilling week, taking time to take care of our mental health!
